From Acoustic to Beat

About the project

“From Acoustic to Beat” is ASTERA Kavadarci’s own programme, funded from the association’s own means and run without an external donor. It is aimed at young people in the Municipality of Kavadarci and the Tikvesh region, and it connects music as cultural expression with music as craft and technique.

We start from the fact that music is among the most direct languages young people speak. Behind it, though, sit acoustics, instruments, rhythm, recording and production - things rarely seen up close. The programme opens that side up and hands the stage to young people who are already creating.

Aims

• Bringing contemporary music to young people - Macedonian and international alike, through direct contact with the people who make it.
• Getting to know the instruments - the audience sees instruments up close, recognises the rhythmic patterns behind songs they already know, and understands how a sound is built.
• Promoting young talent - a stage, in front of an audience from their own town, for young singers, musicians and dancers from Kavadarci and the region.

How it runs

The programme stages several music events a year. Each one combines performances by young artists with a hands-on presentation of instruments, rhythms and contemporary forms of musical expression.

The events are open and free to attend, and participation is open to any young performer from the region.

The first event

The programme’s first activity, which was also the association’s first activity of any kind, took place on 10 September 2026 at the NGO Info Centre in Kavadarci. Young people got to know contemporary instruments and rhythms, and part of the evening belonged to young singers and dancers.
